In order to make sure her products were fit for a king, Antoinette Vermooten got her company, Bayede! Marketing, into a right royal situation. Expressing a vision of creating employment in SA, which was shared by Zulu King Goodwill Zwelethini, she launched the first African royal luxury range of products, with job creation at the heart of her business. Bayede! is endorsed by His Majesty, King Goodwill Zwelethini, explains Antoinette, which gives the company the official right to use the Royal Zulu crest and the legend ‘by appointment to’ on its products. More importantly, however, is the fact that Bayede! develops partnerships with small enterprises to craft a range of retail products, empowering these businesses and creating additional employment. Amongst the product ranges Bayede! already offers are a royal wine selection, royal coffee, Rooibos tea and fruit juice, a royal shirt range, royal diamonds and jewellery, royal armbands and beadwork and royal linen. Moreover, adds Antoinette, Bayede! is continuously developing new products and helping small enterprises reach the next level of growth. She is also proud of the fact that the company is positioned as the first signature Royal African brand, one which reflects culture, history and job creation. She continues to aim high, planning to expand to agriculture commodities and to have a visible footprint in retail. Her dream is to have Bayede! stores all over the country, filled with a whole range of luxury Bayede! products. What this will ultimately mean, suggests Antoinette, is that Bayede! beneficiaries will continue to grow and have a sustainable income, and thus a better future.
