Second Skins


For something to fit like a ‘second skin’, it needs to be slick, safe and swish, which is exactly what Brett Trollip’s aptly named company , Second Skins, delivers – swimwear and sportswear that is ideally suited to the task, and beachwear that provides sun protection. Brett says that the company sprang from his initial development of an innovative product, which he used as a springboard to fulfil his burning desire to run own business. Second Skins, he explains, provides swimwear and technical sportswear to schools and sports clubs, as well as independent sportswear retailers. “How we differentiate ourselves is through efficient service to the market, quick turnarounds on orders and guaranteed deliveries. We are highly focused delivering what is essentially a niche service, supplying a problem solving service to those organisations that are largely ignored by our competitors.” He believes that being a small company enables the business to remain nimble and able to react quickly to customer needs. Furthermore, he adds, he has instilled a desire in his people to go the extra mile for clients. “The majority of our technical fabrics come from overseas. We then adapt the best technology of the northern hemisphere to suit local conditions. We back every product we sell to the hilt, and are willing to meet very specific customer demands.” Looking ahead, he plans to continue growing the business organically, through continuous improvement of efficiencies, in order to become seen as the automatic choice for customers in this trading space. “We also have plans to expand into sub-Saharan Africa and are busy negotiating a strategic alliance with a large European sun protection clothing brand.” Tweet: Whether swimming, doing sports or relaxing on the beach, our clothing fits like a second skin!”
