Biography

Alan Richards claims he has always wanted to run his own business, right from the time when he was ten years old and his mother asked him what he to do when he grew up. Today, thanks to Access Office Solutions, Alan has fulfilled that dream, offering customers and end-to-end supply chain solution within the office products industry. “Our services include understanding our clients’ exact needs and assisting them to create an efficient procurement solution. We then source, procure and warehouse on their behalf, as well as distributing nationally, as required. What Access Office Solutions does is to offer a centralised procurement solution with a single point of contact and also to help customers with any non-core product they may need,” he says. Alan explains that among the services offered are distributing marketing material and promotional items for campaigns, kitting out new branches and monthly replenishment orders. When it comes to procuring non-core products for customers, he says it is a simple matter of doing what they don’t want to do, thereby freeing them up to focus on what they are good at. “We believe our current model is scalable and increasing our size will most definitely add value to our potential customers. In the end, I want us to be the leading Southern African end-to-end supply chain solution within the office products Industry. I hope to achieve this by broadening our stakeholder base without compromising our mission and also by investing in a paperless warehouse management solution, utilising a similar model to Amazon’s successful operation.”
