It was this frustration with the logistical challenges of parcel delivery that spurred Lars Veul on to create Pargo, a company focused on optimal parcel delivery with convenience, speed and reliability. “Pargo is a convenient parcel pick-up point solution that allows consumers to collect and return parcels at a store of their choosing. The Pargo network includes over 750 partner outlets in all major centres and is established at retail chains like Clicks, Caltex Freshstop and 7-Eleven,” explains Lars. There is a huge problem around last-mile delivery for parcels, particularly in rural areas, and something that is exacerbated by the recent disruptions at the post office. Pargo currently provides services to a number of large corporates, including FNB, African Bank, TFG, Spree and bidorbuy. “Looking ahead, our goal is to be the leading last-mile logistics provider in Africa. This means growing our network in SA further, as well as developing and widening our logistics and fulfillment services offering so that we can move into other African markets. We especially need to grow both our pick-up point network – meaning more partnerships with big retail chains – and the companies that use our services, targeting enterprises that need better last-mile distribution services,” he says.
