When it comes to getting a little saucy, Alet Erasmus is way ahead of the pack – the owner of Creative Cuisine Pantry, Alet produces a range of around 60 different sauces and dressings, including salad dressings, balsamic reductions, sweet sauces, preserves and condiments, bottled salads and various nut and seed mixtures. Having studied Home Economics at Stellenbosch University, followed by a decade of teaching and another lecturing in the subject at tertiary level, she is thoroughly qualified to run a catering business. Her differentiator, however, is the fact that all her products make use only of natural ingredients, rather than flavourants. The business supplies its products to Spar, Fruit & Veg City as well as a range of independent shops and delis.Alet says that her technical food background, coupled with an innate ability to understand what products people are looking for has ensured her success. At the same time, she works hard, does not give up, and does not accept inferior products, effort or service, making sure that every single item that leaves this factory is of the highest possible quality.Looking forward, her goal is to begin supplying some of the other large chain stores, even if this is not under her own branding. In addition, Alet plans to increase the company’s distribution into those areas they currently do not supply, such as KZN.
